Brother is coming down from Brighton today. My cousin, him and myself will be at the Dover Castle pub tonight to celebrate St. Patrick’s Night. WE will be having some Guinness , an Irish stew and some Irish whisky that Phil has not revealed what it is , until it is presented to us this evening.

I look forward to the revelry ahead.

Usually my mobile phone, although I did forget it on Friday, but I was in Faversham first part of the day and picked it up later to go to Sittingbourne and Rochester. Also, apart from my wallet,i always have a book to read. I can never go anywhere without a book, unless it is the local pub.

Good question, Mars would be the first I would like to visit, followed by the moon Io or any of the Jovian system.

Given the choice I would rather travel to to the future at least a hundred years hence from now to see if we have either landed man on Mars, or that the grand unified theory is actually proven, and whether cyborgs (or androids) become real.

Then I would fast forward to 500 years from now to see if man has actually gone to the other planets and out into the universe. Perhaps by then homo sapien will have been superseded by androids and cyborgs with far greater intelligence than we can imagine now.

My party guests would be -

Steve Jobs to explain the iCloid
Albert Einstein to explain his General and Special Relativity
Lisa Randall to explain the Higgs boson and whether string theory or quantum loop gravity is the next big idea.
Stephen Fry for his erudite wit.

Deliberately omitting something is not a lie , it is simply an omission, and can only be a lie if it becomes a spoken or written falsehood. Philosophers will argue that even an omission of some fact could be seen as concealing the truth, but I argue that concealing the truth is not a deliberate lie.

That the electronic music geezer called Moby (Richard Melville Hall) is related to Herman Melville , author of "Moby Dick". That was from Eggheads today.

On What Planet
By Kenneth Rexroth
Uniformly over the whole countryside
The warm air flows imperceptibly seaward;
The autumn haze drifts in deep bands
Over the pale water;
White egrets stand in the blue marshes;
Tamalpais, Diablo, St. Helena
Float in the air.
Climbing on the cliffs of Hunter’s Hill
We look out over fifty miles of sinuous
Interpenetration of mountains and sea.

Leading up a twisted chimney,
Just as my eyes rise to the level
Of a small cave, two white owls
Fly out, silent, close to my face.
They hover, confused in the sunlight,
And disappear into the recesses of the cliff.

All day I have been watching a new climber,
A young girl with ash blonde hair
And gentle confident eyes.
She climbs slowly, precisely,
With unwasted grace.

While I am coiling the ropes,
Watching the spectacular sunset,
She turns to me and says, quietly,
“It must be very beautiful, the sunset,
On Saturn, with the rings and all the moons.”

Well all my presents were best presents.

From brother I had a couple of books, and from Tim another book, and from GC eau de toilette.

The books are -

Primo Levi – The Periodic Table (Everyman s Library)
Henry David Thoreau – Walden And Other Writings (The Modern Library)
Alan Partridge – I, Partridge , The Autobiography (Harper Collins)

More reading to do but I love reading , so perfect presents in all.

Ideally a hot toddy of milk with ginger and a large dash of whisky and rum stirred in it. If it doesn'r cure it will make it a lot easier to suffer it.
