R.I.P. Rik Mayall

A little bit shocked to her that Rik Mayall has past away today. he was formative in the alternative comedy of the eighties. A few other LJ people have put videos of him in action in both The Young Ones and his spot in Black Adder.

Here is the BBC News link to his death at the age of 56 -

Same here. It's really sad news. They'll never be another Lord Flasheart.

How sad. He was very talented, and apparently really quite young.

I always treasured his performance in Drop Dead Fred. That movie makes me cry every time

I wondered why you had the Young Ones link.

Oh dear.

Oh, I did not know this. I am very sad. He was truly funny. I stumbled upon The Young Ones when everyone else had gone to bed one night and left the television on. It reminded me of my student days and the student houses I visited. Neil was/is my favourite. He sent up the hippies so well. Rik died way too young. RIP Rik.

EDIT: It hit the news just after I commented. People are saying that their favourite role of Rik's was Lord Flasheart, followed by Bottomly and the People's Poet :)
