A perfectly pitched tribute to the teased-hair Philly freestyle of Pretty Poison, which was basically straight new wave/synth pop with a clavé fill or two. Morgan Geist gets every musical detail right (down to the “Tour De France” panting), but this escapes nostalgia thanks to Jessy Lanza, whose voice always manages to convey emotion no matter how thick the irony or dope fog she’s hiding behind.
