2. a pair of connected or corresponding things.

In astronomy, a syzygy (/ˈsɪzɪdʒi/; from the Ancient Greek σύζυγος, suzugos, 'yoked together') is a roughly straight-line configuration of three or more celestial bodies in a gravitational system.
