Beer,Books and More Elpees

On the Thursday of the lunch meeting, before I met up with the guys, I popped into another Wetherspoons to try some more ale from their current beer festival.

I had the following-

Moorhouse’s Ruby Witch (4.6 % ABV)
Bath Ales Hefeweizen Hare (4.7 % ABV)
Thwaites Crafty Devil (4.3 % ABV)

After the lunch I had a couple of the Dark Star Smoked Porter (5.4 % ABV) before ending up at the Northern Lights to have one of those tasty Icelandic beers.

Friday GC and I went over to Bexhill as she had a visit to complete. I walked around the charity shops to find some cheap bargains. Bought a few books, a DVD and a CD, plus some vinyl in a shop just north of Cooden Beach.

The books are -

Mario Puzo - The Godfather (Orion) 50p
Carrie Fisher - Postcards From The Edge (Picador) 10p
Nicholas Blincoe - Jello Salad (Serpents Tail) 80p

The CD was -
Tchaikovsky Symphony No.3 - Bournemouth S.O. / Andrew Litton (Virgin Classics) £1

And the DVD was -
House Of Flying Daggers , for a quid

Picked up five albums for a fiver from this shop simply called The Record Shop -

Carole King - Tapestry (A&M)
America - History, The Greatest Hits (Warner Bros.)
George Shearing - Light Airy & Swinging (BASF)
Nina Simone - My Baby Just Cares For Me (Charly)
Soul II Soul - Club Classics vol. 1 (Ten Records)

We had a bit of controversy over a word Thursday whilst we were imbibing at the Evening Star.,It was over an answer to a clue in the Telegraph crossword. That word was elpee , meaning LP or a long player, so I consulted the online OED today and found that as such it does not exist as an official word for that twelve inch slab of vinyl, and yet it did seem to fit the crossword. I doubt it would even be held up in a Scrabble tournament.
