Sky Watching Morning

Recently i was re-reading Arthur C Clarke's short story, The Sentinel, which years later became the basis for the film and novel 2001 A Space Odyssey. The ape like creatures at the beginning of the novel looked up at the stars, wondering much like us i guess, is their life out there in the universe. Then digging out a couple of early 70's prog rock albums by Genesis before they became , IMHO, substandard, with the leaving of Peter Gabriel and the emergence of Phil Collins, a track from Foxtrot , which although not related to the Clarke novel or short story, yet one of my favourite tracks, is called Watcher Of The Skies.

Enjoy.

I was gonna say... :)

I physically wore out my first copies of 'Foxtrot' and 'Nursery Cryme'. The needle finally wore right through the vinyl into the substrate.

I agree with you about Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins!

I don't think I have ever heard any of Genesis' music before Phil Collins.
It was really good. :)

Their early albums including this one are far better than anything they did later.

I love "The Sentinel." That eerie ending - "The old are often very jealous of the young" (or something like that, anyway) - never fails to send shivers up my spine.

you and my hubby would get on well, Genesis are his fave band...and early Genesis moreso.

Early Genesis were sublime.

I read THE SENTINEL years ago and loved it!
Love that Genesis song! It's aged well!
