Delousing and Other Queries

Had a minor net  problem that is now resolved. At least it will be faster once we have set  up the Sky router on Tuesday. The box came last week.

This morning i resolved some of the problems that cousin had on his laptop ,which included multiple open Chrome platforms. No wonder it was dead slow. I used a combination of CCleaner and 360 Degree Amigo (both freeware) to clean out his registry, clean up the privacy settings and get rid of the junk files.Well, at least most of the delousing has been done. I have not got round to defragging the machine as i reckon that could take all day!

I have noticed that LJ does not flag up spelling mistakes in the visual editor mode but does in HTML mode. Why? Has anybody else noticed this?

Amazingly , it is another fine sunny day and it is mid October. It cannot last!

I did notice the spelling mistakes thing, yes. It is annoying.

I never use the Rich mode editor - what would you use that for?

YAY for another nice day.
It's chilly here.

Eventually, it will reach a cataclysmic horror,
but let's just enjoy this global warming while we can.

Sky Router? That sounds a bit like SKY NET to me! ;)

I have noticed that, as I have switched from using a PC to a Mac that my spelling mistakes are not always corrected- and, sometimes, if I'm not observant, a word is used that i had not intended to use!

*Edited because one of those unintentional words got through. :/

I noticed, I did, I did. Been complaining for 4 weeks. The volunteers didn't notice me..

I've noticed the lack of spelling correction in Visual Editor as well. Not sure exactly when it started because when no red lines appeared under my text I just assumed it was typed correctly. Only later upon going back an re-reading entries did I find the typos!

It's quite vexing because between bad eyesight and a tendency to transpose letters when I type, I depend on that to catch the occasional mistake. I do know that it started around the same time I was having other computer problems so I guess I thought it was just my system. Now that I know it's site-wide I'll try lodging a complaint. Maybe if enough of us do that they'll do something about it.

We're having a lovely sunny October here on the East Coast of the U.S. as well. Enjoy!

Och...well, hopefully you can defrag soon. Maybe overnight?

*HUGS*

Urgh, Sky. Not only an outpost of the pustulous Murdoch empire, but damned poor quality too. A while back, realising they could only supply us with a fairly tepid DSL offering, I nudged the roomie/landlord into VDSL. Only BT, rather than one of the really nifty ISPs, but - other than a nearly disastrous hiccup with installation (the contractor couldn't find the kerbside box at first, but after I stressed how important a good connection was to me, as I worked from home, and dealt with large video files routinely, he agreed to take me along to have another look. We found it =:), it's been quite satisfactory. No throttling we've been able to detect, no traffic caps, and instead of around around 6Mbits down/600Mbits up, we're now around 5Mbytes down/700Kbytes up. =:D (Whilst I can't recommend having one's phone pole felled as a means of upgrading the wiring, it did afford a modest boost as well =:)
