New Old Hi Fi System
Thanks to
cmcmck and hubby for the donation of this Technics system. Already listened to the CD and played a few twelve inch singles on it. Picked it up from their Gillingham home today. Speakers next visit, so i am using my headphones at the moment.
They are a wonderful couple, and it was great to finally meet up with her.

We're pleased to have found an appreciative home for it!
it was good to finally meet you too.
I think I've found the missing plug- it had ended up in a box with another amplifier from our spare system that it didn't belong to! Dunno how that happened.

Do you know roughly the size of the speakers as i may bring a trolley suitcase to bring them in.
BTW - rediscovering music is real fun. Thanks again.

That phrasing is causing the technologist side of my brain some considerable aching. ^_^; I think I see what you mean, though.
At least, I do hope so. =:)
I miss my original hi-fi. Well, not mine as such - the family's, really. It was made for us by a family friend, back when we had a little "country club" (now up for sale - yours for only around £850,000!), where I in fact came into the world. It was, physically, like a long table/desk that opened up, if you get my meaning, in three sections: on the left, the AM/FM radio (with magic eye tuning indicator!), in the middle, a reel to reel tape deck, and on the right, a record player, with the amplifier built into one of the sections, plus a couple control switches to enable a feed to another set of speakers.
It was a good setup. I remember Terry Wogan's dulcet tones coming over its speakers (again, built for the system). Eventually, of course, it packed in, let alone being a hefty piece of equipment - but it served its time very well, and made possible many happy evenings.
