Jazz 625
When BBC 2 started in the sixties one of the main forward looking tv programs was Jazz 625. It was called that because up to that point in 1964 TV quality used 405 lines but by then the Beeb introduced a higher definition of 625 lines per frame.
This was a regular slot introducing Jazz to the nation and it was very progressive and educational as much as the BBC 2 format would be. in those formative years.
Here are a couple of clips but many such recordings have been wiped and no longer available.
Jazz 625 - The Thelonious Monk Quartet
Bill Evans Trio - Jazz 625 complete
For all you lovely jazz fans out there, Enjoy.
Jazz cat signs out.
