Philosophy Podcasts

I received a message from an old friend [livejournal.com profile] jbd001 earlier and we may be meeting up in December. Like me, he is another hard boiled jazz nut based on the south coast. We use to DJ occasionally together, much like the patter with my Finnish mate, Mestari. Something to look forward to anyway.

I have been listening to more podcasts of the Public philosopher with Harvard philosopher Micheal Sandell. The ones i cogitated over today were "Why Vote?" recorded at the LSE in London and one recorded in Asia on "National Guilt". Very thought provoking stuff.

I then read a chapter from the Brian Magee book on philosophy, "The Great Philosophers", and in particular the chapter on Friedrich Nietzsche.

After listening to the Sufjan Stevens CD , "Seven Swans"  I have a bit of a snooze, and hey presto, wide awake now. Thus i am lustening more to the Sandell podcasts.

That will be good to catch up with your old friend!

'Why Vote" sounds like a good title for a punk rock song :)

Hope some more philosophy puts you to sleep again :)

It sure helped although Michael Sandell has a voice that is soporific.
