Lunch Club and Book Finds

In many ways this has been a long day. Started out doing a mystery shop at the Apple Store and then the lunch club followed by some beers at the Evening Star pub. Plus a purchase from Waterstones a few charity shop finds.

This was the last lunch club of this year before Xmas. The usual crowd came and we decided to have something special for the New Year. We had a very enjoyable time, dome great conversations and the occasional funny moment.

Afterwards i popped into Waterstones as i had a voucher to spend and picked up this from thier philosophy section -

I the found these in various chaorty shops -

I then had a few beers at the Evening star pub ending up with a half of Arbor Indy Girl ale (9.7  % ABV). Top heavy yummy beer!

Recently I came across the name Leszek Kotakowski in a book I have been reading lately titled, "Reappraisals: Reflections On The Forgotten Twentieth Century" by Tony Judt. Never heard of this fellow before. I looked that book up this evening on US Amazon and it goes for $38.00 dollars!

I collect books by A. Huxley.

What exactly do you do for a living? Are you married? peace

So odd that you posted a book by Kolakowski, because yesterday I was doing the final pass on the section of one of our manuscript collections dealing with him. Also YAY for Ursula Le Guin, one of my favorite authors!

Sounds like you had a good time!

Mmm, I suspect I'd've thoroughly enjoyed Indie Girl - I've a terrible weakness for barleywines, Belgians, et al. ^_^

Berkeley, yay! Home of Comic Relief (the superb comic store, not the UK charity), Jupiter (with many superb beers, though exclusively keg-based, and great tossed pizzas), and incredible views from up Nimitz Way, across to the Pacific to the west, and way out to the greater area to the east. (I must try cleaning up the pano I shot from up there - sadly, with a not so great lens, but the software I have now might be able to make up for some of that)
