Following Faith

Well, as i seemed  to concentrate on the two jobs today i forgot to take nay non-work related photos. I will have to make amends during the week ahead.

Last night i watched two episodes of Season 4 from BtVS and two from Season one of Angel following the story of the rogue slayer faith, after she wakes up from the coma. Specifically,

Buffy S4
This Year's Girl
Who Are You?

Angel S1
Five By Five
Sanctuary

then Buffy S4
The Yoko Factor

Along with reading the excellent e-book on the series i will going on to Season 5 again.

The main thrust of that season was the idea of identity, and the loss of identity and identity theft, especially when Faith switches bodies with Buffy via a magical device, and knowing who you are, or being your authentic self. Also , when Riley discovers that the initiative had a darker agenda, his upbringing of just following orders and not questioning makes him very unprepared for the grey areas that Buffy walks in when it comes to vampires and demons. The dream sequences in Restless really caps the whole season off in a great way foreshadowing what is too come in the next one.

Faith is great. I really like it when she and Wes team up in season four of "Angel", when Angelus has returned. The pair of them make such a terrific flip side to the Buffy and Giles dynamic. I'd have loved a Faith and Wes spin off!

Me too. I also like the idea of palingenesis that runs throughout both series, especially when Faith, realizing that she must face up to the error of her ways, is reborn or re-created as another character in search of redemption and helps the Scooby Gang and potentials against the First and the uber-vamps.

Only metaphorically speaking, in the sense that she was a wedge that broke the fab four up, and a way that Spike splits the Scooby Gang from Buffy..
