Yuletide is a festival observed by the historical Germanic peoples, later undergoing Christianised reformulation resulting in the now better-known Christmastide. Also a pagan term for the period.

Aha, there is quite a big society of lj-users who write novels and they address to each other as "yuletide author", I never couldn't get what that supposed to mean.

Yuletide in the LJ fandom community refers to a very large online event dedicated to the creation of fanworks (written, art, or music videos) for works that are not in the highest rank of popularity. You put up vague suggestions for works you might want in a particular canon, and another person is selected to create a work for you. The works are posted anonymously on Christmas day and the creators are identified a few days later.
