Well It Is Friday

Due to tight budget it has been \another day of relaxing and since it has been an overcast day with the occasional shower i decided to do some reading. Covered quite a few a few chapters from each book with another one fully completed. Hey ho, so back to reading and maybe that Daredevil movie DVD to watch later on. Might even watts that third Jason Bourne trilogy , having watched the other two.  I also listened to one of thses Big Finsh Dr.Who audio items. It was Tom Baker as the good old Doctor.

Sorry to hear finances are so tight but you spent the day well w. good books. Not having to be out in the rain makes a good reading day.

My daughter knitted 20ft of the Dr Who scarf and did not finish it bc the ex-BF cheated on her. The scarf is unfinished but still in the bag and could be finished - not sure what she will do w. it or if she even remembers it by now.

I taught myself to knit by knitting one. However, a scarf that's ridiculous on a 6'4" Tom Baker is almost completely unwearable on my 5'8" boyfriend.

This was her first time to knit using needles. She'd used looms and made scarves for her friends in high school. It was certainly a huge project to start w. but she learned fast. She's not knitted anything since either.

I was not aware Tom Baker was so tall and the scarf is long, long on him - I can imagine your boyfriend has to wrap it a few more times. W's BF was 6' or 6'1". He was really looking fwd to that scarf too.

Big Finish are a company who do officially licensed commercial audio dramas. They have been doing original Doctor Who dramas with Doctors 5-8 for nearly 16 years now, recently Tom Baker, John Hurt and David Tennant have joined the ranks of the Doctors. They also do radio adaptions of the lost first series of the Avengers (with a new Dr Keel and Steed), new Blake's 7 and Survivors amoung others.

If you like your Dr Who more old school you will love Big Finish

Wasn't it Emma Peel, instead of Dr. Keel? Anyway, that's what I think of when I hear "Avengers," instead of the comic book superhero stuff.

The first series had two male leads David Keel (Ian Hendry) and of course Steed and they have a very fraught relationship.

The first season was very different and much more down to Earth but still with some interesting plot ideas and set ups which made it different from those shows around it.

You can download some things from the Big Finish website I believe, not sure elsewhere.

Thanks for setting me straight.  My earliest memories of The Avengers was watching John Steed & Emma Peel on the local PBS station, back in my high school days.

No problem. I don't think any of the first three series made it abroad until the 1980s, but I may be wrong on that front.

Since I graduated from high school in 1969, it was evidently a bit earlier. I don't recall if those old episodes ever made it to commercial TV here in the US, but they did appear on Public or Educational TV. PBS has always been known for running classic British TV shows.

I quite liked Peter Davidson, too, having already been a fan of his on All Creatures great and Small and I think David Tenant did a great job, too. I haven't watched all the latest doctors to judge all of them. I liked Bill Pertwee, too, but he was 'before my time' in that we didn't have TV when I was a kid and only got exposed by my husband when Tom Baker had taken over the role.
