Aftican Woman

I took the camera with me in Sittingbourne on the off chance i might need it. Glad i did.

Some ladies were coming down the road whilst i was waiting for a bus back home handing out leaftets in relation with a community project to do with diversity. They were dressed in very colourful African costumes.EWell i presume they were as my fashion sense is zilch.

I then took a photo of East Street  looking towards the top end of the  town.

Diversity is good, to a point. My employer is all about diversity. Unfortunately, a lot of the people being hired barely speak English, and hardly understand it. IMHO, not good in a hospital. :o
I love that lady in the second picture. She looks like she would be a barrel of laughs. :)
Hugs, Jon

I don't know whether they're authentic African outfits or "what people of African ancestry who aren't living in Africa think is African", but I see women dressed like that in Detroit, at least during festivals.

A couple of years ago a local museum had an exhibit on "the hat tradition" in the African American community. I'd never considered before that the tradition of wearing flamboyant hats, and some of the hat styles, developed from traditional African headgear.

You are not a dedicated follower of fashion? =:)

I suppose I need to get out more.. I'd love to catch such moments, whether wide aperture to emphasise the subject, or narrower, for more of the entire scene. Locally, there's not a lot, unfortunately.

(Mmm, Sigma 30mm f/1.4.. true, not the very sharpest lens around, especially wide open, but it's such a lot of fun to play with, regardless)
