Egads

Egads! Woke up late again. Put money on key meter for electricity but turned out to be not enough, so will have to try to get to Rainham today to sell some books to make up the rest so that the electricity stays on. Roll on Wednesday , sigh!

Constantine

I loved the film version of Constantine. Now it looks like there will be a TV series based on the DC Comics supernatural series Hellblazer, coming in the fall. From the trailer it looks good.

Classic Reads?

The idea of a classic novel is one  that not just stands the test of time, but  in my mind at least, a book that can be life-changing The publishing companies want to have a canon but to me a classic is any book that you yourself can find something from, and hence it leads nicely to this Guardian article in which even the author of the article admits that the word (classic) becomes meaningless.

I have emerged from under the rock, thanks to all who have helped me back. Plus listening to a very funny episode of The Unbelievable Truth on BBC Radio 4 helped.

Monday Night Jazz Tunes

Feeling a little better now, less stressed, so i found a few jazz tunes from albums i have in the collection (and for sale at Discogs). First up, an LP by Bobby Montgomery called "So Why Not?". Here is the title track -

The other is by Dave Brubeck with Carmen McCrae from Tonight Only, a track called Briar Bush -

This next album from 1989 by Abbey Lincoln , People in Me, is a superb collection of tunes, and the best track is the seven minute, Africa -

Enjoy!
