Afro Blue Morning
May. 13th, 2014 08:52 amNow, before i depart to the bucolic and riparian delights of Faversham, i have dug out an old CD, well not that old, that i use to play on a regular basis by The Robert Glasper Experiment, doing a version of Mongo Santamaria's Afro Blue, with the distinctive voice of Erykah Badu. , one of the coolest Blue Noyte albums to come out in the last few years.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.
Ross Macdonald "The Galton Case" (Penguin Modern Classics)

Archer is hired to find the long lost son of the fabulously wealthy Maria Galton. Along the way he meets John Brown a young man who claims to be Galton's son. While Brown, in the role of the prodigal son, is driving a slick new car, Archer is going through his past to find out who he really is. When Peter Culligan is murdered another mystery is added to the plot of what is a very good short spellbinding crime novel.
In the search for the true identity of John Brown Archer goes through different levels of his life exploring the question of identity and what creates it.
Who did it becomes who did it and what does that say about human nature. The author's characters become the archetype for every-man as he delves deeper into human relationships.
The author's patterned plots make more sense as develops his characters to be the heart of his books. I will not give away how it ends, but it was a satisfying read by an author i have not heard of before.

Decisions Decisions
May. 13th, 2014 06:45 pmA good day in Faversham but i have a nagging feeling that i should have brought more books to sell just in case the remittance from one of my companies does not come tomorrow. I have decided i am not going to stress out worrying over it (or try not to) , as if it if it not in tomorrow it will be there next day - that is a given. Then another remittance from another company will also be in that day. Just that it will impact on cousin. He should really change bank. These charges they make are crippling , i know , as many years ago i was with the same bank and successfully got my overcharging back , and back dated to the last six years . This was due to reading an excellent money advice site.
But i ramble, Like i said, it was a god day. Market day so the town was quite busy. Bought some salad stuff and we had salt beef salad. Was going to use some tomatoes as well but being right at the back of the fridge they were still solid and icy!
So here i am listening to the Dan Fogelberg four CD box set, thinking of what else i could sell. Rearranged books (for the umpteenth time) and putting some aside and thinking will i ever get to read them or is it best to just get rid of them such as one on Bebop jazz which is rather technical and dry. Decisions decisions. It all depends on how tomorrow pans out. You can gather than i m a bit of a hoarder and hate to get rid of things.
