Apart from doing some revision and doing a practice test in which i received 76 % correct questions , nothing else much happened today. However , the response to my Brighton music theme this morning was very positive. I would love to do a whole post on post-rock uber cool band Electrelane, but for now, that shall wait till another time.
I was trying to remember all the bands i had seen live whilst i lived in Brighton. These were bands or artists that i was alerted to by that excellent bible of avant garde music , The Wire.
Top of this list is
Acid Mothers Temple and The Melting Paraiso at the Freebutt pub -
This is one of my favourite albums by them. Jap psyche rock musos!
Next,
Sunburned Hand Of The Man at some arts place where they showed avant garde films in Brighton - Seen them twice actually.
Here is a track called
Nice Butterfly Mask.At the Sussex Arts Centre i saw the
Chicago Underground Duo -A track from the album
Synesthesia called
Blue Sparks Form Her.
At a small theatre event , name escapes me, i saw
Jaga Jazzist live. Like the Chicago Underground Duo , cool and brilliant live! so here is a funky number called
All I Know Is Tonight. On a tour with fellow Africans i saw
Salif Keita live at the Dome. Awesome. A track called
Cono.
Yeah some great live concerts and some top notch groups. In Part Two i shall plays clips by Faust, Devendre Banhart ,Joanna Newsom, Toumani Diabate , and Oumou Sangare. The last two were on African Soul Rebel visits and i sure miss them!
