So is Frankenstein written exactly how Mary wrote it? :o That could be interesting/difficult.

Oh, oh, Frankenstein! (I have a copy, having studied it for uni.)

I love Steinbeck but don't think I have read this one.

Hooray for inexpensive charity shops!

I love charity shops, too. With 7 kids, I did most of my clothes shopping there!!One day my daughter asked "Are we poor?" Startled, I said "No, why do you ask?" Seems somebody asked where she got her 'new' skirt and she told them 'the thrift store'. They said it must mean that we were poor. My response was "I could buy your clothes in a regular store and you'd have 3 skirts and 5 blouses. But since I shop at a thrift store, you have 7 skirts and 10 blouses." She gave a big smile and said "OH! That's good!!" and never was bothered about it again.

Cannery Row is a fav. I've been to Monterey California where it takes place many times. It's a beautiful place.

Oroonoko is really interesting; I had to read it last year for an English class on early science fiction. Be interested to hear what you think of it. Frankenstein of course a classic -- very very different from what most people imagine who have not read it but only seen the various movies!
