Jeez! I was woken up ten minutes ago by an almighty crash or that's what it sounded like, and then I heard the mewling.. a couple of cats fighting over territory,, I guess. There were a few rubbish bin tops missing from the neighbours strewn across the car park.

But how the bins ended up there is a mystery as these are usually round the back with the large bins from the binroom. It's a mystery and one I can forget as I need to try to get back to sleep.

Since the beginning of last week, we have had a slight outage of the internet for around ten minutes. I wonder if BT is fixing up some cables again? The last time it happened I was in the middle of a who-done-it series!

Of course, the cat misses his mum, and he always went to Rosalind's lap, rather than Mike's. So even Riley feels at a loss. Cats feel this you now.

Anyway, I took a picture or two of Riley.

Riley looking after my diary.

Riley is already bored with Partygate and Boris!

In Town

I walked into town to have a few beers and get some provisions. I drank a couple of pints at my local pub and then walked down to Tescos for some eggs. I made a mushroom omelet when I arrived back home.

However, I did find that somebody had left an almost brand new jacket in the common room for others to try and take. So I tried it on and it fits. I learn later whilst in the pub, it was Tim from upstairs who originally had the jacket. This is a quality Italian suede leather jacket and is lined inside.

Whilst in the pub I noticed some old Mods park across the street with their Lambrettas and parkas.

On the way to the supermarket, I noticed that the tea cosy gang had decorated the post boxes again. This time somebody had tied a champagne glass as well.

On the way walking home down West Street I noticed a figure in this shop window of furniture products. It was a beautiful cat looking at me and feeling very feline and displaying themselves.

That made my day.

Yes, Riley, that handsome boy is Nine today. He is Mike's rescue cat from Rye.

It has been a wonderful sunny Sunday. Also, a very productive one.

I caught the bus to Sittingbourne this morning to do the two postal address checking streets with round 140 and 30 addresses to check in the two streets allocated. I did both and then had a few beers in the Wetherspoons pub, then Donna's Ale House and The Yellow Stocks.

I arrived home and had a beef lasagne.

Yesterday in Faversham I picked up this CD from the Fleurs Book Shop for a quid.

Whilst in town the cat that belongs to the Hatton Hall record shop was outside seeking attention from customers looking at the vinyl displays outside of the shop. I gave the feline a stroke and a belly rub.

Anyway, tomorrow will be another sunny day before the rain comes on Tuesday. Hence I will do the last postal checking job in Newington that day.

Heartbreaking news. I have read the books and seen the film and followed news articles about James and Bob, for years.

Hodder & Stoughton and James Bowen are saddened to announce the death of Bob the cat on 15 June at the age of at least 14 years.

James, a recovering addict, first met Bob in 2007 when he found him abandoned and injured. James took care of Bob who in turn gave him a reason to get up each morning. They quickly became inseparable, busking and selling The Big Issue on the streets of London.

In 2012 Hodder & Stoughton published James’ first book, A Street Cat Named Bob, telling his and Bob’s extraordinary story. The book was a publishing sensation, selling - along with its sequels The World According to Bob, A Gift from Bob and The Little Book of Bob - more than eight million books in more than forty languages, and was made into the film in 2016 starring Luke Treadaway as James. Bob appeared in the film as himself and will appear in a sequel, A Gift from Bob, later this year.

As James and Bob continued to find fans all over the world, Bob led an incredible life meeting well-wishers at book signings, travelling the world and coping with feline fame. He was an extraordinary cat who will be greatly missed.

James Bowen says “Bob saved my life. It’s as simple as that. He gave me so much more than companionship. With him at my side, I found a direction and purpose that I’d been missing. The success we achieved together through our books and films was miraculous. He’s met thousands of people, touched millions of lives. There’s never been a cat like him. And never will again. I feel like the light has gone out in my life. I will never forget him.”

The interloper is back accommodating my settee. Misty lounging again!

Ended up with eleven Christmas cards on my wall. These will be removed and recycled in the New Year.

Popping into town soon. It is a nice sunny winter day.
