My favourite live version would have to be a performance of the 'symphony cycle' i.e. all 9 with a ticket discount if you book for the lot (as I did) at Symphony Hall Birmingham with Harnoncourt conducting. Yes, I shed tears during the final movement of the 9th. Bit embarrassing as I didn't realise until afterwards and I had a soaking wet face.
