I have just finished viewing the most poignant, fascinating and often painful to watch documentary on the life and untimely death of Amy Winehouse, a Film 4 production. She was a consummate jazz singer with a voice soaked in years of the tradition in such a young soul. Troubled by family problems with a dad that was hardly there, a tempestuous relationship with boyfriend and then husband Blake, and the rigors of being famous with the hounding of the paparazzi, and the ultimate cause of her death through dirrnk, drugs and bulimia. At times watching this i just cried uncontrollably and thinking such a waste of a unique and soulful talent. Miss your music so much.
