Feb. 21st, 2006 09:32 pmFound some interesting books and comics for perusal over the last few days. First off two from David Comics "Tales From The Flat Book 2" (Modern Monstrosity) which is really funny and enjoyed it thoroghly and the sixth edition of "The Sound of Drowning" which i yet to read.
Also from them i purchased "Bluesman Book 2" by Rob Volmar and Pablo G Gallejo (NBM Publishing) - which looks great graphically and the story sounds fascinating as far a de blues is concerned. Looks good - i hope when i get to read it it won't disapppoint.
Found two jazz Cd's cheaply. William Parker "In Order To Survive" (Black Saint 1995) for £4, and Cecil Taylor "The Tree of Life" (FMP 1998) for £4 - both surprisingly from Benos in Croydon which is undergoing a major refit and extension.
Finally got "London Is The Place For Me Vol.2" (Honest Jons) from Resident as well "New York Noise Vol. 2" (Soul Jazz 2006) - both exceelent compilations well annotated and Morton Feldman "String Quartet 1979" (Naxos CD) from The Classical Long Player in Dukes Lane.
From the Heart Foundation charity shop in London Road i found an interesting book for £2 on "Forgotten English" by Jeffrey Kacirk (Quill paperback 1999) which looks at those words which have fallen into ill use or seem archaic but are as rich as any word currently used.
