Cheap Comics

Yesterday bought a few items from Davids Comics and the remainder shop almost next to it. They were "Unruly 01" a journal of fiction,non-fiction and comix for £3, "Malinky Robot Issue 02 - Bicycle" by Sonny Liew for £2 - lovely drawn and stylised, and "the Comics Journal isue 270" for £3 which has an interview with Jessica Abel,a cartoonist and graphic novelist,who did the excellent Artbabe.

Recent CD purchases are "Everthing" by Teenage Jesus And The Jerks" (Atavistic),Papa M "Live From A Shark Cage" (Domino),and "Old Time Music From South-West Virginia" (County Music" which features Dock Boggs,The Appalachian Vagabonds,Dykes Magic City trio,Emry Arthur,Fiddlin' Powers And family, and Byrd Moore - what wonderful names too - and a great compilation to go with all those other old-timey stuff on Revenant,Arhoolie,Old Hat and so on.

I was up in Wandsworth where i got the CD's from ,apart from the old-timey stuff which i bought at Rough Trade which now has a selecion of the Fonal stuff from Finland,and lots of weird new folk stuff to boot.


Well better go now - up to Purley.
