Bognor Visit
Aug. 12th, 2006 05:25 pmLeft early today for an instore job at Tesco Express in Bognor Regis.Had to be there for 8am but atleast i finished early. Officially it is a 2pm finish but the people were so nice that i completed all 20 interviews by midday!!!
So i decided to go hoem early. Yippee!! Put some more stuff on at the stall. I think my CBBG photo bookk was sold as it's no longer in a prominant postion on our stall. Some LP's as well and a couple o singles and a Harvey Pekar Maerican Splendour comic.
Currently listening to CD's of two LP's i had in the very early seventies ,that is 1970 and 1971, both by Atomic Rooster "Death Walks Behind You" and "In Hearing Of",the follow up LP. The CD's are lovely remasters with extra tracks and well annotated. I got these as an exchange for getting rid of some tiresome hip hop. REAL Music matey!! And you know, they still sound good, hardly aged at all. ATOMIC ROOSTER were one of the better groups at the nexus between prog and early metal. Now all i need is early DEEP PURPLE and BLACK SABBATH,and not forgetting COLOSSEUM ,GENTLE GIANT,VAN DER GRAF GENERATOR, or MAN.
Actually i have forgotten how good these two albums by ATOMIC ROOSTER were, driven by the wonderful jazzy and full-on sounding Hammond organ work of Vincent Crane. No wonder Ian Helliwell featured a track by them on Mike Bradhsaw's "The Daily Show" on TotallyRadio.com.
Anyay, decided to put a mention to them on the WEIRDSOUNDZ site together with another one from Stephen. Site is going well.
