Mariachi Beans
Dec. 3rd, 2006 06:47 pmYesteday spent mostly mystery shopping and then sorting out stuff for selling or exchange,as there are quite a few new records i need to get and need some leeway in getting them. Popped over to Hove as well to Fine Records to offload some old classical CD's and picked up three new ones (or not so new ones) from them.
John Cage Complete Piano Music Vol.8 - Steffen Schleiermacher, piano (MDG 2002)
Giancinto Scelsi "Selected Works" by Ensemble 2E2M (Adda 1990)
Louis Andriessen "De Stilj / M Is For Man,Music,Mozart" Schoenberg Ensemble etc (Nonesuch 1994)
Today another exchange at Across The tracks to get The Mariachi Brass feat. Chet Baker "A Taste of Tequila / Hats Off"(BGP 2006), a brand new release of classic old exotica from the BGP Sound Library.Herb Alpert is so passé!! As it comes from the great Ace Records organisation it is very well annotated with a wonderful informative booklet. Nice version of "These Bots Are Made for Walking" too.
GC wanted to sort out her 7" singles collection and last night at her place spent sorting them out and making sure each single (as much as possible) had its correct sleeve.
This morning been cleaning them up and sounding them out for playability, some are in fine condition but others were much worse for wear.Still in the process of doing it - and putting some onto mp3's - it will take a fews days to do anyway.
Mexican beans anyone?
