Cold Comfort

Well went to Worthing - damn shop was connected to a petrol station so i phoned up thr research company and they promptly changed the venue for me - Costcutters,Lewes Road Brighton - better but by the time i would have got back to my locality it would be too cold and dark to do it - so another call means i can do it on a different date. Sense at last from these people.

Anyway earlier i sold some books,CD's and vinyl for a quick sale and made $40,which was quite good considering that most of the stuff was bought very cheaply - so i din't loose much.

Picked up the latest Wire magazine with their end of year charts, and again both interesting and controversial. But more of that laetr.

I was glad to be back in the warmth though - a bitterly cold day.

RECORDS OF THE YEAR

Well here it is the end of the year review of my top forty records of the year which is a mixed bag between new stuf,compilations and reissues. Enjoy.

By the way i noticed that  bagrec has done a best of the year as well - will be interesting to compare notes.We obviously differ over the Scott Walker one - oh well,c'est la vie.! Also there is a few on his list like Grizzly Bear which i have yet to investigate.

DVD Highlights Of 2006

A couple of musically inspired DVD's became the highlights of the year ,and strangely enough,both via Plexi.

Searching For The Wrong Eyed Jesus - a musical jouney into the heart of American folk music by Jim White.

DeRailroaded - a documntary about Larry "Wild Man" Fischer who once recorded an Lp for Frank Zappa's Bizarre label. Insightful look at a paranoid schizophrenic and his trrue outsider music.

Nothing else came close to these fascinating DVD's except for the DVD that came part of the Tortoise set in my Top 40 records of the year.
