Marker and Other Goodies
Feb. 4th, 2007 08:30 pmThis evening i watched the remarkable masterpiece by Chris Marker "La Jetée" on DVD which is an exquisite short film i totally recommend.
Infact there is a nice article about it from http://www.moviemartyr.com/1962/lajetee.htm
Earlier today inside Churchill Square shopping mall dong a survey. Last night did a PRS DJ visit at The Standard in West Street. Finished 2am last night but did'nt need to get to the mall til 11am today. The DJ PRS job was listening down house and R&B tracks frrom what the DJ was playing. I was next to him in the booth and so it was fairly easy to jot down tunes i have not heard of before (although some i did know both title and artist, but not many as it is not my genre).
My genre is weird hip hop, jazz, improv, and avant-garde of all hues with some exotica and soundtracks thrown into the mix,as well as folk, prog and suchforth.
Picked up two CD's and and LP in a swap (getting rid of old CD's of mine) at Across The Tracks, Mr.Fox "Mr.Fox / The Gypsy" (Castle CD), Adrian Sherwood "Becoming a Cliché" (Real World 2006) and the LP by Kenneth Toroade "Love Rejoice" (Get Back 2002) which is another in the BYG/Actuel reisssues (Actuel 22). I don't know how many were made in the BYG/Actuel series but if anyone out there in cyberspace knows then let me know. It would be appreciated.
