No Boots

Visited the boot fair at the station but shouldn't have bothered as it was, wel,l quite empty of stalls. This was due to the forecast of wet and windy weather for the weekend, but whilst it is overcast, touch wood, the deluge has not come.  I then thought of tripping up to London and visit haunts like Intoxica! and Record Xchange, Sister Ray and that other one in Soho (whose name escapes for the time being) Decided i would wait til later  in the week.

Had a call from Tim and Karen today - he is going good ,well, great guns, with his computer course. A technophobe now turned into a computer geek - well maybe?  He doesn't  think people google themselves, ,but Karen said they did, well for the record i haven't but now i am intrigued. Am I tht vain? Suggested he visited my LJ site, as well as Mike's lesser output as [personal profile] coming42 - and talking of bruv M will meet some day this coming week. he suggested somewhere at The Marina - Benny and Johnny's was his choice - fine by me.

Tom Verlaine's "Miller's Tale" is a good double CD with one side live and a 13 min version of "Marquee Moon" on it", just fantastic. Purchased it  from Resident for a cheap £4.99 on Friday.

Getting into the Fifth Dimension, a totally forgotten unsung soul group from the late sixties / early seventies, with harmonies and melodies so summery and perfect , and if you like The Free Design then you must get into the Fifth Dimension. Groovy babe !!

Did not know Tim was a fan of the work of Johhny Cash , esp.the Rick Rubin produced American recordings selection. "Hurt" is a classic, and the video is just so sublime. So for Tim, and other Cash devotees, this amazing last video by Cash of "Hurt" -

It still makes me weep.

Well it did turn out to be a really really wet day. Got soaked going out getting a take-away for L and myself from the not so far Chinese restaurant this early evening, less than ten minutes walk but still drowned like a rat.

BBC 4 has been doing a series on children's TV and some memories of stuff seen as a child came flooding back, The best of them being The Magic Roundabout as narrated by EricThompson. So surreal and really above the heads of most kids, no wonder adults enjoyed it. Then my other favourite ,and still watch occassionally, Wallace and Gromit.

So here is a seminal episode from the series..
