More Crate Digging in Crawley
Jul. 21st, 2007 07:12 pmMet GC for a coffee this morning before my trip to Crawley (again) for yet another bus survey. I also have one on Sunday. I am currently writing this at the East Surrey hospital restaurant which has free internet access.
Got to Crawley reasonably earlty to nip into the YMCA charity shop and dug around the crates of vinyl. Picked out five LPs and eight singles for a total price of the princely sum of £3.60.
Best find was the Dave Grusin soundtrack to "The Graduate" which features a few Simon and Garfunkel tracks biut the main point in getting this LP is for the groovy jazzy stuff by Dave Grusin who was working on the "Candy" soundtrack at the same time. A quick review is at my WEIRDSOUNDZ site.
Singles included Space "Magic Fly", Jonathan Richman "Egyptian Reggae", A Taste of Honey "Boogie Oogie Oogie" and Timmy Thomas "Touch To Touch",these being the tastiest finds.
The other four albums are -
Simon and Garfunkel "Sounds of Silence" (CBS) - with version of Davy Graham's "Anji" on it.
Glen Campbell - Wichita Lineman (Embassy)
Florence Foster Jenkins - The Unbelievable Glory of The Human Voice (RCA)
Herb Alpert - Portrait of (A&M) - a double LP
I should be finished around 10 pm but it means geting home late again.
