Mega LP Scrum !!
Dec. 14th, 2007 01:08 am Today another long day finishing off with a live PRS visit down at The Pressure Point this evening to jot down the music being played by VNV , a German electro- industrial band. Not my cup of tea really so i managed to obtain their playlist and didn't stay too long.
Earlier free film watching with GC ,the long but hugely engrossing "The Kite Runner" which is not officially released til after Christmas Superb drama and comes highly recommended - cattch it if you can folks.
Loads of cheap vinyl today with some given a quick spin on the turntable to determine how good or bad they are. -
Various - Alan Freeman's First Lesson (Decca 1976 LP) - top tunes here ,not 'arf!
Peters And Lee - By Your Side (Philips 1973 LP) - I know ,normally would put it straight back in the bin but a funky "She's About A Mover" makes this one to keep. Thank to VV forums for letting me onto this groove.Well worth its 50 pence.
The Tony Mansell Singers - Hits From Burt Bacharach With Love (Stereo Gold Award LP) - ho hum another Muller atrocity.
Peters And Lee - Favourites (Philips LP) - another duffer saved by one track "I'm Coming Home" which is very beaty! Paid 20 pence only!
Barbara Dickson - Answer Me (RSO 1983 LP) - another surprise with a fine funked up take on Curtis Mayfiled's "People Get Ready"
Richard Thompson and Peter Filleul "The Marksmen" (BBC Records 1987 LP) - Celtic flavoured soundtrack
Rick Wakeman - Journey To The Centre Of The Earth (A&M LP) - this will divide people. prog excess or what?
Artie Kaplan - Down By The Old Stream (Paramount 1973 LP) - strange one this from what i have played so far - its the voice!!
Ashoka Group - Ten Greatest Hits (Star Records) qawwali sounding music with a modern twist.
Alan Stivell - A Olympia (Fontana LP) - More gaelic folk from Breton,France
Savia Andina - Savia Andina (M&S Records LP) - Pan pipes and Andean folk music.Don't know why i picked this one!! it's okay but destined for a trade i think.
Prelude - Back To The Light (Pye 1976 LP) - "Woman To Love" is a fine funky rocker, with "The Night That New York Cried" grooves nicely with some funky fender rhodes piano, and the title track has some real acid guitar, rest is country rock with a religious tint. File under Christian rock.
Anyway twelve elpees fifty pence or under (six of them for a quid) and most will be kept except for two,or maybe three, which will be traded.
