Funky MOR?
Dec. 20th, 2007 06:50 pmBeen digging into the darker corners of my collection and picked out these surprisingly groovy MOR funkers..
Liza Minnelli - 'Use Me'
The Osmonds - 'Can't Get Next To You'
Glen Campbell - 'Oh What A Woman'
Tom Jones - 'Ain't No Sunshine'
Peggy Lee - 'Dock Of The Bay' (a favourite Funky Fish club track)
Jack Jones - "Brother Where You Are" (Funky wah wah / horns backing)
Also on a trip via Polegate to do a job i found an Engelbert Humperdinck LP "A Man Without Love" (Decca LP) for 20 pence containing these two nuggets -
Engelbert Humperdinck - "Quando Quando Quando" (jazzy flute background and groovy beat)
Engelbert Humperdinck - "From Here To Eternity" (orchestral start here been sampled so often but a cool track)
The place i got them is a house clearance company and the guy says they have this person that brings these albums to them on a regular basis 9all fairly minty) and as they don't really sell LP's said i could have them for pence. The 20 pence also included a Jacques Loussier Trio "Play Bach No.3" (Decca LP) that was very minty - hardly played. he also said i was the first person to buy albums from threm and that they have a garage load of albums and that i should keep popping in when they will send more to the shop. oh yes bring it on if they are that cheap!!
The Live as Sands Jack Jones LP, turns up time and time again in boots and charities which contains the "Brother" track as well as "Spinning Wheel".
Sammy Davis soundtrack to "Salt and Pepper" has funky moments such as "I like the way you dance"
Any others that i can think of i shall let you know
