Ben Woodward at the Western Front
Apr. 3rd, 2008 01:15 pmLast night i went to The Western Front to see Ben Woodward perform. He was one of the guys at the Druids Head live gig i did last week as a PRS visit. He played almost the same set of songs from that previous gig. Adam was playing cymbals.
Best ones were "Weak Knees" ,"Go With The flow" , "Old Shoes" and my favourite of them all "Down" a.k.a The A272 song as it is based on a true story of Ben being high as a kite,on alcohol, and trying to get home and rolling along this wheelbarrow he had "found" and being stopped by the police and arrested for it. Well something like that but after two pints of strong cider i was less well focused myself.
Musically it is acoustic folk or anti-folk and vocally comes across like a younger version of Neil Young. I don't know what his influences are so would like to do an interview by email with him.
He has a MySpace site as well at -
www.myspace.com/twelvestring
Try and catch him soon at a gig.
