Hove Finds
Jul. 11th, 2008 09:03 amWhilst in Hove the other day went around looking for vinyl and got these -

QUINCY JONES The Dude (A&M)
This was 50p and when i got it home found it to be badly warped although it didn't look it on initial inspection in the chazzer.
JAMES LAST Caribbean Nights (Polydor)
Been after this one for quite a long while and finally found a mint copy in Fine Records at a very reasonable price, and boy don't he skank it up a bit on these reggae covers ,especially on the skanking funkiness of "Exodus".
ACT ONE Act One (Spring)
I really don't know musch about this group except for knowing the minor hit "Peeping Tom" which is on this album. Having siad that, the album is suprisingly good. It has that early New York disco feel to it,although influenced by the Philadeplhia sound aon some tracks and a bit of funky Fatback Band style grooviness (who were on the same label at the time) as well, but also very soulful too.
Apart from the Quincy Jones LP these are keepers.
