Friday night's PRS was at the Candy Bar (now called The Ghetto) and whilst still a gay club it was more invitng to straights under its new guise, welcoming gays and metrosexuals. The music though on the night was decidely indie style which ain't my vup of tea at all.

Tonight i visited the Funky Fish Club but usual DJ and contact person were both on holiday , and a relief DJ from Bournemouth was playing the CDs,and the atmosphere was not the same. I left before one in the morning (I usually stay the full wack) as the stuff was too well known and a bit formulaic. Also did not get my free beers which i usually get from Del,and beers are too expensive in these clubs.

In London today to do two retail reviews at Cafe Nero shops. One of them was closed though due to some ele. This wsctricity problem in the High Street ( I took a photo as evidence for my research company). This was Clapham High Steet (about 12.30 am) and so went and did the Battersea Rise one instead. I did return to the other at 3.45pm but it was still closed.

Meanwhile i went up to Essex Road first to exchange some vinyl at Haggle Records. Got the "Universal Sounds of America" compilation (Soul Jazz),which i already have on CD,but the vinyl  would be good for my DJ nights. Plus it is all weird jazz anyway!!

From the Sue Ryder chazzer on the same road got these -

Urban Species - Spiritual Love (Talkin' Loud 12")
The Brothers Johnson - Ain't We Funkin' Now / Strawbery Letter 23 / Get The Funk (A&M 12")
Wagon Christ - Lovely / Never Ending Snorkel / Pretty Crap (Virgin 12")

After the second visit to Clapham High Street i then took the tube to MVE Notting Hill to do some more exchanges, and got these -

Grupo Fantasma - Bacalao Con Pan (Freestyle 12")
Martine Girault - Revival (Opaz 12")
Anna Ross - Where Love Lies (Acid Jazz promo 12")
Mike Ladd - Vernacular Homicide (Ozone 10" EP)
Various Artists - A Certain Freedom (Urban LP)
Charles McPherson - Siku Ya bibi (Day of The Lady)   (Mainstream LP)

Quite a few to be played in 2 weeks time.

Weather at least was better than the last few days.
