Monday I returned back to sleepy Kent. Stopped in Tunbridge Wells for a break awaiting a connecting bus in the Opera House pub. Had a couple of pints -

Wells Banana Bread Beer (4.5 % ABV)

Big City Jamaican Stout (5.0 % ABV)

Arrived in Teynham just after 2pm. The warm sunshine carpeted the journey with rays of expectancy as I neared the village betwixt Sittingbourne and Faversham. I was reading Graham Swift's “Waterland”, a story of the Fens, intrigue , murder, incest and revenge. Well over half way through the novel now.

Had a call from Sittingbourne Library to pop in for an informal interview on Friday morning. I thought that some voluntary work will look good on my curriculum vitae. I would not mind helping out and it will introduce me to people who don't frequent the Dover Castle.

I was in Teynham Library Tuesday and Wednesday using the computer for some online research ,as my laptop dongle has reached its 1GB limit and I will have to wait a few days before I can use it for this month.

Tim had done another stonking hot chilli con carne dish. His chill dish has become legendary, and I absolutely love it!

Wednesday night we were up the Dover Castle pub. Tim had his usual Guiness and i had pints of "Early Bird"

Another beaautiful sunny day.

In Sittingbourne to do  the usual fortnightly thing, but also had an informal interview at the library this morning. I think it went well, as  the conversation flowed easily, and without any sense of nerves getting in the way. I feel very postive and look forward to a reply in the next two weeks (approximately). Whilst at the libary, i noticed one of the library staff from Teynham, and she just said a quick "hello" whilst i was chatting with Stacy.

I took some reading material to while away the time, including "Getting Into Poetry", the Graham Swift novel and a "Very Short Intorduction to German Philosophy". In some ways this is how things are at the moment, a modus vivendi, if you like.

The bus fares have gone up. A return journey to Sittingbourne, a mere four miles, is now £4.80. Compared with the "day saver" in Brighton, which allows unlimited diurnal travel for a tidy £3.70 per day , and as far as Lewes, Uckfiled and Newhaven ( distances of 12 miles or more), the Kent one is postively expensive.

Add on the fact that the bus is once an hour and nothing in the evening, Arriva are consequently attrocious, and Brighton And Hove buses sublime. No contest!
