Last night I went to the Fish Bowl pub to spin a few records with Ville and Ally. I had bought some singles from exchanges I made in London some time ago, and not listened to any of them, or even spin them.

These are the ones I spun -

Didier's Sond System – Impuls (Timmion Sounds)
Benny Poole – Pearl Baby Pearl (Wah Wah)
First Born – The Mood Club (Larkin)
Stoned Soul Picnic – Hip Joint (Blowin' It Hard Records)
The Punjabs – Sitar Blues (Jazzman)
Nemoy – Flywheel (Bon 45)
The Simon Sound – Tour De Mars (Project Blue Book)
Donald Byrd / Madlib – Steppin' Again (Blue Note)
Orchestra Harlow – Abran Paso (Fania)
Wagon Cookin' – Lua (Compost 12”
)

Cool funky grooves!

Lubricated by fine real ale!

Ville knows the guys in Didier's as they are all Finnish groove merchants.

I sometimes wonder if we can have a different nomenclature for the word “birthday”, as generally it refers to a birth, rather than your actual age. Ageday would sound silly, and I cannot think of an alternative, hence it is my birthday. Another notch on the calendar, and an incremental unit , or digit, to say you have reached 55.

GC took me out for a meal across the road at the Indian restaurant, after her day in Robertsbridge. Very good food, spicy and filling topped off with an authentic Indian ice cream dish. The dall soup was thick and creamy, and the Lamb Tikka Madras curry, with side order of Sag Aloo , exploded tastefully in your mouth. Washed down with Cobra lager.

Earlier, had a coffee with Lorna at a Costa Coffee outlet. She has a new phone, updated her contract, to an Apple iPhone4. Sneaky!

She has not joined the twitterati yet. I will have to coach her in to it.

Yesterday I took her out for a meal at The Post and Telegraph pub, and she bought me anew top and shorts for the summer.

Yesterday morning walked up to BHASVIC to peruse the boot fair. Picked up two cheap paperbacks. One of them was Bill Hicks “Love All The People” (Constable).

I have finished reading the book on Hume , and will probably sell it to the guy at Past Sentence in Faversham, along with other cast-offs.

I need a new business venture, as the online selling at Discogs and Play does not generate enough income, and there seems to be too much competition. GC's idea of opening a sweet shop in Seaford sounds a splendid idea. She is totally fed up with market research. I think I would agree with that verdict.

Off back to the garden of England tomorrow.

Following on from the video clip of Electrasy i posted a few days ago of that young and svelte Ally , this is him strumming away on guitar down the Dover Castle last Sunday.  Receding hair line and a beer belly. Spot (my cousin) did a bit of singing or strangling a cat.
