The Long Seaford and Brighton Weekend
Jul. 29th, 2011 10:16 amHad a really good break over the weekend , seeing my friend Georgina, and doing a DJ set down at the Northern Lights, plus drinking beer at the Evening Star and meeting friends.
Left Teynham on Thursday afternoon , and via Eastbourne, arrived in Seaford about eight. I did have a naughty cider at the Cornfield Garage pub in Eastbourne before my last bus journey. A stonking good Welsh cider – Gwynt Y Ddraig Black Dragon (7.2 % ABV).
The day I did my DJ spot on Friday I popped into the Evening Star for a couple of beers. Tried the Dark Star Carafa Jade beer for the first time, a reddish 5.0% ale from the best brewer in the UK. I then had their wonderfully complex Six Hop Ale (6.5 % ABV).
The evening at the Northern Lights went well. I had the delicious Swedish Meatballs for dinner before I started my set. I certainly DJ with the most sedulous enthusiasm , but then some swim club nonces wanted me to turn the music down whilst they give out swimming certificates. This was about 9.30 pm , an hour into my set. It lasted for ten minutes and I was quietly seething underneath.
Apart from that, the evening turned out to be enjoyable and I look forward to my next night there in August.
Ville and Ally popped by for awhile. It was Ville's birthday and he bought me a beer. When I finished my set circa 2 am, and walking back from there, I saw Liz (barmaid at the Evening Star) chatting with friends outside The Mesmorist restaurant.
I have already posted the playlist in a previous blog.
Saturday, GC and I had a superb evening meal at Cote brasserie in Brighton. I had a duck pate starter followed by a mouth watering rib eye steak with frittes, washes down with a soft fruity Merlot. Ended the late dinner with a cognac and coffee.
Sunday we had lunch at the Cinque Port in Seaford. The roast pork was delicious and the meal was hugely satisfying.
I also helped GC's friend, David, to get on the internet with his Sky broadband router. He is now happily surfing the net, and it has dragged him into the 21st century, as this is his first computer, and his first time using the world wide web.
Monday I popped into Brighton to pick up some packing material for records I needed to post off. I popped into the Evening Star for one pint. They had a lovely strong Otley Motley Brew (7.5 % ABV) on tap. I will definitely miss visiting this den of iniquity and raucous drinking.
I stayed in Seaford for another day and returned back to Kent on Wednesday morning, disembarking in Tunbridge Wells at the Opera House pub for a pint of Dark Star Original (5.0 % ABV). Arrived in sleepsville about 3.30 pm.
