I heard on the grapevine that the next time brother is down to this village is May 19th , a triple birthday celebration of Tim's (April) and ours. The theme last time was Irish. This one will be a creole food theme, my kind of food as it's good soul food, He also wants some jazz but the jazz band cannot play Fridays, so as Phil has a sound system at the Dover Castle he will bring his mp3 player.

I too have a suggestion, my laptop, with its Virtual DJ set up, or a bunch of burned CD's. Let the pub hear quality music.

Here is some of my suggestions for a mix -

Nina Simone – Feeling Good
Sarah Vaughan – Bye Bye
Miles Davis – All Blues
The Robert Glasper Experiment feat. Eryka Badou – Afro Blue
Dr. John – Gris Gris
Abbey Lincoln – As Long As You're Living
David Axelrod – Everything Counts
Jessica Lauren Four – White Mountain
Freddie Cole – Ain't No Sunshine , a cool jazzy vocal version of the Bill Withers tune
Mongo Santamaria – Afro Blue
Cecilai Stalin – My favourite Things
Roy Merriweather – Nubian Lady
John Coltrane – Equinox
The Five Corners Quintet – Three Corners
Blossom Dearie – I Love London In The Rain
Dizzy Gillespie – Matrix
Lorez Alexander – What Is Wrong With Groovin'
Gil Scott Heron – I Think I'll Call It Morning
Cannonball Adderly Quintet – Walk Tall

This will be my project for the next few weeks

Today I visited the lovely city of Canterbury for a vist to the Heritage Museum. It turned out to be another fine warm day, so I made the most of it.

.

Afterwards, I had a couple of pints in the Westgate Inn, a lovely yummy John Martin's Pale Ale (5 % ABV). I then walked up to Canterbury Rock, a vinyl emporium run by a friend of my cousin. I bought a 12” single from there.

Bootsy's Rubber Band “Body Slam” (Warner Bros)

Bought a few cheap paperbacks, including the first novel by David Lodge, “The Picturegoers” (Penguin).

Had another ale in the other Wetherspoons pub , a dark Wychwood King Goblin (6.0 % ABV).

I also bought my Western Digital 320GB hard drive from PC World , copied every file and bit of data from the knackered old one , and then I will dispose of the wheezing drive, and as it is worth squot, I will probably leave it out for a passer by to pick up, as we did with the old broken microwave. I did leave some music files on it to educate whoever picks it up in quality music vibes.

(The old one is on the right of the picture)

The new drive is powered by the USB port and is half the size and does not have a chunky power adaptor. Thank goodness for the progress of technology..
