Last night I watched a few episodes of The Big Bang Theory and the new Inspector George Gently drama series on BBC1. It was based around a Northern Soul club in the late sixties and the background music being played was of that era, even down to a mention of the rarest Motown single, Frank Wilson‘s “Do I Love You?” . Also played by this lass on the decks was a track by Archie Bell and The Drells, but I did notice two slip ups form the Beeb. Two songs which were somewhat anachronistic, as they both belong to the following decade, namely the seventies. One by Marvin Gaye and the other which ended the drama by Bill Withers, his “Lean On Me”. Oops, somebody didn’t do their research effectively! Also, the term Northern Soul was not used till 1970 by Blues & Soul magazine writer Dave Godin.

Good programme despite the faux pas.

Well what a crap bank holiday weekend it has been for me with cousin going in a deep funk of heading towards skid’s row after his MRI scan at Medway Hospital on Friday. I am really fed up and looking forward to getting away again. Ashford Cineworld on Wednesday, some charity shop visits on Thursday and then back to Sussex on Friday.

I was thinking of coming back on the following Tuesday but they way I feel right now I could decide that he goes and see Kent play cricket next Wednesday on his own, and he will have to find another mug to go with him.

At least there is a new series of New Tricks on BBC tonight.
