Last Shop Standing: Whatever Happened to Record Shops? by Graham Jones (Proper Books)

Some funny (when listing what some customers come in to ask for) and nostalgic moments, but for the most part this is a depressing (although interesting) account of why UK record shops have been disappearing over the last few years. Particularly revealing on how hyping affected the UK music charts - you feel sorry for the retailers and the musicians but it's impossible to feel any sympathy for the greedy record labels and as a music fan it leaves a nasty taste in your mouth. Not the best book ever written and it could have done with some more judicious editing, but despite this,a good read nonetheless.
