Alpine and London
Sep. 8th, 2012 11:25 amThe glorious weather continues so really it would be sacrilege to stay indoors all day. So I might just go for a bus ride somewhere, although undecided as to where but within the local area.
Last night I watched the Proms on BBC 4 with the excellent Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Bernard Haitink. They played Haydn’s 104th Symphony, known as the “London”, followed by Richard Strauss and his “Alpine Symphony”. .
The Alpine Symphony is one that , for some reason, I have not heard before but I found it an exhilarating piece of classical music.
I used the iPlayer on the laptop, and they have introduced a rewind feature, which I found quite useful.
Looking forward to Dr. Who this evening, as it features dinosaurs on a space ship. Hopefully a more rounded episode than the previous one.
