The previous evening was the last time that the Dover Castle Inn is run by Phil, Jimbo and Paul.  They are all moving on to ventures new. It is the end of an era. Many tears were shed, the blob was in apoplexy, and some heartfelt wishes were muted.

Today the pub is under new ownership but it will not feel the same, just different.

I ventured forth to Maidstone today, although did not get going till midday due to having to hunt for something i bought in Canterbury Maplins on Saturday,  which i needed today. Having found the item, I then spent a bit too much time surfing the net, and then Fran rang at midday to ascertain if Spot had gone to work and to discuss the somewhat distant feel of last night's farewell to the team that had run the pub for the last 19 years.

This will be a strange week as the realization that things are not going to be the same now that the landlords have changed. In one way, perhaps  a positive one, there will be new routines in which the need to go up there will be less apparent and that i shall be healthier because of it. I doubt the new people will allow very late night drinking anyway, and whether true or not, that there has been mixed reports about the new guy who once had The Elephant in Faversham.

Time will tell.
