Morning folks. Looks like it could a nice day here in Kent. Listening to some fine music by Mark Eitzel's American Music Club , an album called "San Francisco". One to play in the morning.

The track i have chosen is this rousing track.Their music is usually down tempo and inward looking full of sadness, regret and miserable-ism.

Well after popping over to Faversham in which i sold some books for a tenner., i decided to have a sneaky pint at the Leading Light pub. They still had the Oatmeal Stout, so had one of those and went into the smoking area outside, and sat down reading a book, smoking my pipe and enjoying the beer.

Whilst in Faversham i picked up a few cheap books, one for ten pence, one for twenty pence and one for fifty pence from different thrift shops.

After midday, the weather turned cloudy and colder. It had been warm and sunny. So i decided to go to the Office for  some admin stuff and that is where i am ensconced right now. Picked up a couple of Wetherspoons visits as well, one in Canterbury and one in Maidstone for this week and next week respectively. Free food and drinks!

I agree with [livejournal.com profile] poliphilo on the subject of this tense situation.

So after the stint in the Office i grabbed the bus down to Maidstone to do this mystery shop , travel agents again, and had a beer at the Society Rooms, a pub that is on my mystery shop visits for next week.

Arrived home just after six in the evening and put on some Arabic music , for a change, also from a charity shop visit i did a few weeks back.

I got these two from Crowborough, a small village south of Tunbridge Wells, as well as a couple of gamelan music CD's.

From the Cairo Road compilation i have selected this track by Sudanese female singer - Rasha and the track "Azara Alhai"

Very modern, and with a great bit of sax tootling on it.

After watching University Challenge last night, i switched over to BBC 4 to catch the last half an hour of "What Happened Before The Big Bang?" in the Horizon science series. So i watched  it again on catch up TV this evening , and i belive it has been on before, but is still a mind boggling programme.

As the programme notes say on the iPlayer -

"They are the biggest questions that science can possibly ask: where did everything in our universe come from? How did it all begin? For nearly a hundred years, we thought we had the answer: a big bang some 14 billion years ago.

But now some scientists believe that was not really the beginning. Our universe may have had a life before this violent moment of creation.

Horizon takes the ultimate trip into the unknown to explore a dizzying world of cosmic bounces, rips and multiple universes, and finds out what happened before the big bang."

This is the kind of cosmological science that is right up my street. It features a few of my heavyweight scientific intellectuals in the programme ; Lee Smolin, Roger Penrose and Michio Kaku , the latter whom i have met once doing a book signing.

I think that there can be no cause without an effect, and that the singularity from which the universe has expanded from must have had a pre-existing effect , which could be the collision of membranes, or that the nothing  of the vacuum is seething with energy that forms bubbles of matter from which the bang arose out of. Buddhist believe there is never an end or a beginning but just nirvana, and hence i believe the universe is just one of many.
