It is going to be a long day. First a shoot off to the coastal town of Deal and then via Canterbury head off towards Medway ending up in Rochester. There i shall visit the Baggins Book Bazaar, and like a Hobbit will be out of my shire of Swale. (Well, it is not a shire but just an area of Kent).

Then, as i have a Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream kiosk (salivate at the thought of it)  visit in an Odeon cinema  for between 6 and 8 pm over at High Brooms (between Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge) that will be the last visit of the day. Hence i will , using a probabilistic matrix,  be late back anyway.  (Oops, now influenced by the maths geek in Numb3rs)

Meanwhile the morning song is by Peggy Seeger and Ewan MacColl , The First Time I Ever saw Your Face.

Enjoy.

Dull misty and some rain was the order of the day. At least it was not cold. I did wake up later than i wanted to and so waited for the post to arrive - my Pharoah Sanders double CD arrived this morning -  before i went off to do any visits. The first visit was in the coastal town of Deal, and within a few minutes of doing that,I  was back on a connecting bus back to Canterbury.  With time getting short i walked to the rail station and got a train all the way to Rochester. I just had to fin more details about Malcolm John, his Kent books, Midas Books and his connection with Baggins Book Bazaar.

After my visit at the Sue Ryder charity shop i walked to the other end of the High street to the bookshop. The current owner was at his desk (reminding me of Bernard Black in the Channel 4 comedy series Black Books) and he retorted that he had heard of the book publisher and knew Malcolm John quite well. He said that he often use to come in and sell books or purchase books, but he definitely did not own the shop at any time.  I asked him if he knew the author of "Around Historic Kent" was still alive, and he quipped something like well that i really don't know mate. With that , i felt i could not go any further.  However, i did take a few snaps.

Just one of the rooms filled to the brim.

And from the back end leading up to the Medway bridge.

I then just had time to the Chatham charity shop visit and afterwards felt that the Ben & Jerry ice cream visit can do done another day.

Picked up some bargains though - a cardigan for myself in a deep shade of blue (almost Chelsea blue cousin) for three quid. Some CD's including a Blue Note compilation "Blue 60's . Blue Note Strikes A Radical Chord" ,  a bit of a punt with the next one, from Ohio based funk band Sun -  "The Best Of Sun Volume One"  , a CD of Tchaikovsky's  "Piano Concerto No. 1" and a DVD of the Pirates of the Caribbean , Dead man's Chest.

Two books as well, both in the Oxford World Classic series, Jules Verne "Around The World In Eighty Days" and George Eliot "Middlemarch" .

Time to listen to some jazz and funk methinks.
