So after watching a DVD last night, Pirates Of The Caribbean, Dead Man's Chest (a hoot of a fantasy adventure BTW) i read more chapters of the Ferudi book , and almost finished it. However, it is time to get ready for my visits today in Canterbury , Whitstable and High Brooms (the ice cream visit).

Meanwhile, as i have failed to do so last two mornings,, here is today's track by Madeline Peyreux called The Summer Wind.

Enjoy.

Been a good day bad day scenario, or binary opposites if you like, a rather liminal day. Did two of the  visits on the agenda, one in Canterbury and one in Whitstable, but due to the bad weather today, a delayed bus by being over half an hour late, and  other circumstances that added time to an already fret day , by the time i would have got to High Brooms, on the industrial site  to do the Odeon Ben & Jerry ice cream visit, it would have too late to do the visit within the specified time period.

So a case of good fortune in absentia.

Shall i crawl back into the rock i came under?

Following on from [livejournal.com profile] poliphilo post about listening to a Japanese girl pop band lead me back to one of my favourite Jap bands over the last fifteen years, Melt Banana and Pizzicato Five, although Banana are more angit-rock come punk in yer face noisekids.

First off Melt Banana from a Peel Session 2002 -

Some of the short tracks reminds me of some of the music of John Zorn.

From their album Fetch is this great slab of noise called Candy Gun. PLAY LOUD.

Okay, they are not everyone's taste, nut if like the Boredoms (another Jap band) then you should like the Melts.

Pizzicato Five could be called retro pop groove I love their music full stop. Chosen this one called Happy Sad -

The other reason i love them is that they also do some jazzy vibes such as this one, IF I Were A Groupie -

Also i love the postmodern pastiche of old styles refitted to today, as in this track Twiggy Twiggy -

Their version of The Girl From Ipanema  -

And finally, lovely organ groove Tokyo Mon Amor

Enjoy.
