Some photos i snapped whilst in Sussex the last few days.

portslade

This is central Portsklade with the most confusing road as the shops on the right are in Boundary Road whilst those on the left are on Station Road.

funkybox

Most graffiti can be ugly but in Brighton it is more artistic. This one found on a junction box in Western Road near Churchill Square.

georgesthove

This is George Street , the main shopping area in Hove, where Fine Records is located.  I had a nifty pint of beer at the local Wetherspoons. Well you would i hear you say!

A couple of blues tracks to finish with. Jesse Fuller and the original version of Beat It On Down The Line, and covered by the Grateful Dead.

From the Port Of Harlem Jazzmen CD i picked up us this Sidney Bechet number called Really The Blues.

Really the Blues was a recording done in New York under the name of Tommy Ladnier and his Orchestra. Tommy on trumpet, Sydney Bechet on clarinet and another mainplayer in and around Bechet was American clarinetist Mezz Mezzrow. Pianist Cliff Jackson piano, Teddy Bunn guitar, Elmer James bass and Manzie johnson was the drummer.

This tune was composed by Mezz Mezzrow who some 8 years later wrote his life story in a book which he also called "Really The Blues"

Enjoy.

I thought this was quite funny. Sounds something like the guys on Sorry I Haven't A Clue (BBC Radio 4) would come up with from the Uxbridge dictionary.

A short trip over to Faversham today to get some items from a supermarket and to  visit the last day of the Faversham Hop Festival. I had a conversation with one of the guys who serving at the micro pub and found out that it was only open for the festival, then closing down for eight weeks to be fitted out, and then re-open again as a proper micro pub. I look forward to its re-opening.

I tried a few beers and ciders, particularly Core Hardcore Cider (7.5 % ABV) and Gadds No.5 ale (4.4 % ABV).
