Monday TV Watching
Sep. 17th, 2014 01:04 pmMonday night watched the Dr. Who adventure from Saturday. A bit of a curate's egg I thought and hence will have to watch it again. Once again, we see how tangled Claras time line has become to the Doctor's own. To suggest she was there when he was a child is a plum move I thought. It also suggest a further blossoming of the romance between her and Mr Pink , with Pink's future descendants becoming time traveller. Much to chew over here.
Talking of time lords the team of Gallifreyans beat the Wandering Minstrels (lovers of Gilbert and Sullivan operas) team tonight on Only Connect. However, the team from the Open University failed to overcome the team from Leicester University on University Challenge , but did achieve a very high score and may well be back as one of the highest losers to play again in the next round.
I was rooting for the O.U team, as that institution was my university when I tackled subjects from science through to the humanities. I first tackled some science courses and had fun going on a day trip to a geological site. Unfortunately I cannot remember where it was but I remmeber being that it was not far from Reading. Followed that with a maths foundation course, and then did a slight wrong turn tying to grapple with a pure maths course. After a few years away I went back to tackle some of the humanities they had to offer, doing a course on the Enlightenment, Renaissance and a philosophy course. These were all done in the late seventies and early eighties and much, unfortunately, has been forgotten.
Anyway, the last time the O.U. won the University Challenge was back in 1999.
