The Arrow Of Time
Nov. 19th, 2014 07:26 pmWatched four episodes of Season 2 "Arrow " last night as i think we now have a third season that has just started on Sky, so i need to catch up with the previous season first. Darker than the Flash but both series from the DC comics characters make enjoyableand watchable good telly.
Been talking to my geeky colleague again. Today we discussed the evolution of stars, how the solar system was formed, causality and the arrow of time, and the plausibility of life elsewhere in the universe. It makes a change talking to somebody who shares similar interests. I wonder if he is into philosophy?

Keeping The Faith
Nov. 19th, 2014 10:00 pmA comment from
ba1126 has prompted me to view the Culture Show special "Keeping The Faith" on Northern Soul, a genre of soul i was deeply into in the early to mid seventies and as a fan of the music I use to travel far on weekends to dance the night away. Wigan, Blackpool, Manchester, Birmingham (which was the closest at about 30 miles from Rugby) and Stoke.I was never an energetic dancer like some of the guys and gals but i could do a few moves and the backflip.
Here is a very old Granada TV doc on the Wigan Casino, so i apologize for the poor quality video from You Tube.
Here is a more recent documentary on the club and the scene from a BBC documentary this year.
Keep the faith!

Classic Northern Soul Gems
Nov. 19th, 2014 11:51 pmAnd finally, a couple of my all time fave Northern Soul records that i use to have on original vinyl -
Lee David - Temptation Is calling My Name (Columbia promo) - paid £5 for it in 1974
That is what we called a stomper
and here is one which was more mid tempo from the beginning of the Northern Soul scene,
Darrell Banks - Open The Door To Your Heart (Revilot) - another fiver for this bought in the same year.
Enjoy.
