Finally finished the last episodes of the Fourth Season of Falling Skies. It got better and darker as the series continued. First season was wishy washy but it improved alot by the second season. I am now looking forward to the final fifth season in the New year.

Travelling down to Sussex for a week and to celebrate the New Year with my friends and family. I am looking forward to this now, as the monthly lunch club that we do normally, probably will not start again until at least February at the earliest. I may find it difficult to do any mid week visits in January anyway as that ugly slave labour mandatory shit looms over me again, and at the same stupid place as last time. Jeez!

The music of Frederick Delius is rich and sublime, and very sensual. For your enjoyment here is one of his most gorgeous pieces of music , Sea Drift.

It is a lyrical and lush choral work based on the poem "Out of the Cradle Endlessly Rocking" from Book XIX ("Sea-Drift") of the poetry collection "Leaves of Grass" by Walt Whitman (1819-1892). The work was premiered in 1906 under the baton of Henry Wood with Frederic Austin singing the baritone solo part. The poetry is suffused with images of love, the sea and death as Whitman observes two mating birds, the male's bewilderment, following the death of the female, becoming analogous to the human experience of loss and grief. When combined with Delius's music the effect is heightened to an overwhelming intensity.

I have also included this 90 minute documentary from the BBC - Delius: Composer, Lover Enigma.

... in case you have some time available. Enjoy.

Arrived in Seaford about seven in the evening. Had a good chat with GC, watched a few episodes of The Chase, and a BBC documentary on Funk. The latter documentary was quite fascinating. Thus to give you a flava of the groove, when you hit it on the one, a slice of P Funk for ya from the Motor Booty Affair LP   by Parliament, a  track called Mr. Wiggles.
